3 Mixed Amebicides
§ NitroimidazolesMetronidazoles, Tinidazole
Therapeutic Classification of Amoebiasis
1 Drugs for Asymtomatic intestinal infection:Luminal agent: Diloxanide furoate
Or Iodoquinol
Or Paramomycin
2 Drugs for Mild to moderate intestinal infection:
Metraonidazole/Tinidazole
Diloxanide
3 Drugs for Severe Intestinal Infection:
Metraonidazole, Tinidazole, Diloxanide
4 Drugs for Amebic Colitis:
Metronidazole + luminal agent (diloxanide)
Tetracycline + Erythromycin
5 Drugs for Amoebic Dysentry:
Metronidazole
Diloxanide furoate
DIQ (diidoquine)
6 Drugs for Hepatic Amoebiasis:
Emetine HCL
Cholroquine Phosphate
Metronidazole
7 Drugs for Hepatic Abscess ameboma & other entraintestinal diseased:
Metronidazole (if fail then chloroquine)
