This could be the strength-principle of skeletal muscles.
in a normal routine , if a person carries , say 2 Kg of weight in hands/arms/on shoulders,
and is able to occasionally lift upto 20 Kgs , then this is a hilarious reserve of muscles to tackle 20 Kgs momentarily/or few minutes.
Now,
If the muscles are prepared to exercise with say, 4 Kgs of weight,
to lift 4 Kgs regularly, then,
would it be able to tackle 40 kgs momentarily/or for few minutes ?
it should be so, by hypertrophy of muscles. But, is the graph of muscle strength linear in this relation is questionable.
The strength, however, would definitely increase.
