Topographically, uterus is divisible into fundus, body and cervix. The uterine wall in each region is composed of following three coats from without inwards: Outer layer, serosa or perimetrium Middle layer, muscularis or myometrium. Inner layer, mucosa or endometrium.

ENDOMETERIAL CHANGES DURING THE MENSTRUAL CYCLE: Each cycle is characterized by three classical phases, which gradually merge into each other. Although the menstrual cycle becomes apparent with the start of menstruation, i.e.. the shedding of functional layers of endometrium of previous cycle. But the next menstrual cycle begins with the onset of proliferative phase.
